Bane is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona. A well known expert who has published extensively in the field of error-correction, several of his pioneering works have been recognized both in academia and industry, and considered for adoption in industry standards. Previously, he worked at Bell Labs where he was the key architect of a detector / decoder for magnetic recording read channel chips used in hard drives which were regarded at the time as the best in the industry. He is an IEEE fellow and Da Vinci Fellow.
